Totally random test results because I rarely post those anymore nowadays (and I was bored)..

Your result for The Tri-Variable Personality Test (qualified psychologist) ... Test...

The Agile Thinker

You scored 15Artist, 50 Philosopher, 35 Scientist!

Your thinking style is such that you vaccilate between building and creating things; pondering their purpose and value. The world is meant to be understood, and its elements are meant to be manipulated to help us on the path to discovering new techniques and methods for uncovering both universal and personal truth. You are vigorous in your mental attitude; putting things in their place and also justifying the science behind them ... while also expending effort pondering how or why the effort was valuable to you or society in a larger perspective. Perhaps you enjoy regimented activities or a great deal of mental activity; math, chess, etc. This is the category of a true intellectual.

Examples of Stoic Thinkers: Albert Einstein, Galileo, Carl Sagan.

Furthermore: Feedback from these types indicates they are: Highly attentive to detail ... they can come across as quite serious even if they don't intend to! According to other users, this may result in a funny "dry" sense of humor.

Quote from another AT: "The first thing people usually notice about me probably my sense of humor."

"I'm very independent and in many ways don't really care what others think of me. I can't control what others think or say, only how I react to it."

Your result for Personality Elements Assay...

Pure Philosopher

-6 Earth, 11 Air, 5 Fire and -10 Water!

You have one of the three Smoke personalities. You are creative and love to explore new things, but also want to get them right. Any Smoke Personality is some flavor of Philosopher at heart.

Getting new ideas exactly right is the pinnacle of your life. You adore playing around with ideas and fiddling the edges of them until you know exactly what the concept is and how the logic works. Your talent also works for refining existing ideas and testing them, but striking out in new directions it what really charges you up. Your most intense relationships tend to be intellectual in nature, but your most stable ones may not be. Manual work is definitely not your thing.

I guess I am glad the times where I really got so much into things (TV-series, books, video games..) that I spent a major part of my time on them seem to be behind me. There is/was great satisfaction in analyzing every word, contemplating every idea, researching every detail and wanting to know, see and own every little thing about something but there are also great frustration, disappointment and irrealistic expectations. Now I just simply love and enjoy anything that might have been obsession-worthy or used to be one. Step back or step up? Both? I don't know but it's ultimately less stressful.

Either way..

I still just had to immediately check Tokyo Toshokan for a Raw of the first episode of Slayers Revolution after work and yep, there it was. I kept my expectations low (as long as it's going to be better than TRY I have no objections) but I thought it was really really awesome. Despite me of course not understanding much but since it was the first episode it was basically just an introduction anyway. I like seeing Slayers in a better and cleaner but not overdone animation, too. And everything was just as if there never was a break at all, the feeling was the same as ever. That's all I am going to say now since I don't have time in the first place (again..) and I know there are still a couple of Slayers fans on my f-list and not everyone might have watched it right away and rather be waiting for a fansubbed version.

What could ever top the beginning of a new Slayers season? I mean, they would have to release the new X-Files movie I have been waiting for for years and years or something to be able to distract... oh, right, dammit! Pure glee and awesomeness.

I am going to stop before I do end up falling into obsessive fangirlness.

Really, how high are the odds of your two biggest "fandom" obsessions ever returning back to life in one way or the other at almost exactly the same time? I must be really lucky.

Going to Virginia Beach tomorrow so I finally need to start packing some things. (Which means still no real posting until next week when I will hopefully get off my lazy ass and write about some things I have been meaning to write about - but you know me, I might just not care anymore already in a couple of days...). Hope it will be a fun trip! See ya!

What is the deal with flowers? Who ever got the idea of chopping them off and putting them into a vase? I mean, flowers are pretty (in general), sure. When they are growing somewhere outside. A bouquet of flowers inside your house looks pretty for a couple of days, if at all. Well, at least it seems to be the general opinion that flowers in a vase look pretty, but I might just not see the beauty in dying flowers on my table because that's all I see: dying flowers. I don't see the point and if anything, I feel sad seeing them wither away there. And people actually pay money for that (think of all the useful things they could buy instead!), then give it to someone as a present and that actually makes the other person happy! Why? Who the hell started that and how did they get that idea? How did chopped off plants become the standard "proper" present for just about any occasion you can think of? I can see the point in having a pretty plant in a pot that you can actually grow and that will bloom again and again if you take proper care of it (I can't for the heck of it remember to water them so they are not for me either). But bouquets of flowers as a present is just one of those peculiar human mysteries that I will never be able to comprehend. It's not like I think ill of people because they do that because it's just such a "normal" thing to do that I doubt most people ever even wonder about it in their whole life (although that alone does annoy me somewhat, and so does that I bet most of them also don't understand why anyone would wonder about it), it's just that there is really no sense to it and I don't get it. At all.
I suppose it is also one of those things that if I would actually go ask someone why they just gave someone flowers and why they think that was "appropriate" they won't be able to give me a plausible explanation. Because it's just what people do..

Only clowns would play with those balloons.

With a look at my list over at MyAnimeList I realised I haven't read any manga at all in a really long time. I am always watching at least one anime, usually several at a time but I just haven't gotten into any manga or continued reading the ones I used to follow since.. I have no idea when, probably starting when I moved here and decreasing to practically nothing over the last year. I am always reading books, a lot more than I used to over the past years because having faster and easier access to originals of English-language ones was a big incentive in reading more and now I can't read fast enough because there are so many books I want to read at once and just not enough time. So it's not a phase of having no enthusiasm for reading. Hm, I wonder what I need as a push into the direction of getting back into reading manga. I would love to finally pick up Bleach again because it's a big favorite of mine and I used to read it for such a long time until I lost track because my life wouldn't leave me any time for it anymore. And the further ahead of me the number of chapters went the less fun it seemed to spend forever to catch up with them, never mind that I would have to go at least ten chapters back to re-read or even start over with the whole story arc I was at or else I probably wouldn't understand everything. I think I never actually even finished Fruits Basket (read up summaries and all for the last chapters but at that time I had no time to actually read them. I also have the German version of Fruits Basket and Death Note to read standing here because I still prefer the German commercial translations over the English ones, hence why I don't buy English-language ones. And I know there were a couple of animes I loved that I wanted to read the manga version of (definitely Claymore). I think I really just need to force myself to start reading Bleach again and I should eventually fall back in love with it while reading. Or pick up something that doesn't have many chapters first and then I won't be so afraid to get back to the bigger stuff anymore.

It's been so long that I wrote anything sort of "fandom"-related here that I decided to just randomly write that down although it's not interesting at all and I have other things to think about. I also want to make a few icons again, for once because there are so many things I never made any of (or not enough by far) because I do it so rarely, and also because when I was looking for some icons to update my repertoire a little and reflect stuff I like now today instead of one or two years ago I had trouble finding icons I liked. Seriously, for some things there just hardly are any at all. Ghost Hound, anyone? One of my favorite animes of the moment and there's practically nothing.. At least I found one post that had icons that I liked for Spice & Wolf which I just fell head over heels in love with - even the LJ community was apparently only recently created though. Neither of those two animes fall into the mainstream taste, it seems, despite them both being original and quite awesome. The other thing is, for things that are popular with a lot of people, I can't seem to find any icons that I even remotely like. Everyone loves Tengen Toppa but everyone also seems to make the same icons from the same pictures in the same colors of the same character (there are other characters than Yoko, people, no matter how cool or sexy she might be or how many fan service pics there are of her!). Same for D.Grayman: There is so much and you can tell people put work into their icons but everything looks the same to me and I just don't like the coloring or style.
But if you really want something just the way you like it you just have to get off your lazy ass and do it yourself.

(Real life happenings and issues to be discussed once they are figured out.)

You Are a Pear

You are independent, intelligent, and a free thinker.

You can accomplish great things, especially when you do them on your own.

You are direct, honest, and sometimes even a bit brutal.

There's not much that gets in the way of you and your ambition.

While you are hard nosed, you do have a much sweeter side to you.

It takes times for you to soften toward someone, but once you do, you'll be their friend for life.

I think I am getting a cold. Going to pop some cold medicine for the night and hope it doesn't get worse, I really don't need to be spending this weekend coughing and sneezing. And yay, let's go take more medicine. With all the crap I have taken this year already, my body would have to be buried on a hazardous waste depot if I dropped dead right now..

I want a pear now.

Random entry. I can still do that.

LJ Posts To Do

Okay, when I was going to just start with posting something here I got hit with the urge to put some order into all the ideas of what I want to post about. Because after having done some thinking about that lately for the first time I am really postitve that I want to get more involved with this journal and the people on my friends list and (probably) communities again. But one step after the other. And there is a bunch of stuff I want to start off with posting. I will set myself a time window for getting everything "off my chest" and say these are posts I definitely need to have done until the end of this month. Because I don't know with what to start and don't want to make huge posts jumping from topic to topic I am now probably going to write on several posts at once and just leave it in private posts until things are finished.

So here's my Posts-to-do List )

A terrible terrible thing happened today.

I just spent about 30 minutes to prove I am right but I have to face the truth and finally admit my embarassing and shameful mistake.

It is indeed always and under all circumstances without any weird exceptions "Im Moment" and never "immoment". That word does simply not exist in German language (and probably not in any other language either but that's not the point..).

I fail at life.

About fenceposts.

  • Jul. 9th, 2007 at 10:57 PM
reading - Yuki
There's a German figure of speech, "to wave with the fencepost", which means as much as "(obviously) hinting at something".

Sometimes I think I need to be hit over the head with said fencepost repeatedly to catch on whatever the hell you are trying to tell me or what kind of hidden meaning there is in what you are telling me. It might be because of my tendency of being far more occupied with my own thoughts and what's going on in my own head than with what is going on around me, it might be because I am just not in tune with people's emotions (including mine) or because I just don't have the patience or understanding for unnecessary talking and "beating around the bush" (two figures of speech for the price of (n)one today: Germans "talk around the hot mush/pulp"). Or for some other reason or none.

But seriously, if you want something from me or there's something you really want to tell or ask me, if you want a specific message getting across to me, then just say it as it is. Unless you are absolutely sure you have my complete undivided attention and there are no other thoughts floating around in my head aside from the thought of you and the immediate conversation, I am not likely to pick up on anything otherwise. Don't think it would be rude or too straightforward to be direct because unlike most people (who I don't care about) I do not find anything nice or polite about not saying what you mean. It's not appreciated. Being direct is.

It's not really related to anything significant as it was just one of my typical (seemingly) random trails of thought (thought leads to other barely related thought leads to other even more barely related thought leads to...) so don't try finding meaning in something that has none.

And PS: If I read something it usually has my complete or near-complete attention just like a a rare conversation in which I decided to give you my full attention which makes me usually quite good at "reading between the lines" (sorry, Germans do the very same there), probably better than the average person. Go figure. Thus this doesn't apply to any of you people who I know through writing, not through speaking.

This is strangely fascinating.

"Sometimes I have some challenging ideas, or crazy like some other people would say. This time I thought about our cat who is the whole day out, returning sometimes hungry sometimes not, sometimes with traces of fights, sometimes he stay also the night out.
When he finally returns, I wonder where he was and what he did during his day. This brought me to the idea to equip the cat with a camera."

what would house do?
Some retarded monkey keeps calling me randomly on my cell phone. Retarded because even a monkey would normally be smart enough to not send his number. See, this is an entirely logical conclusion.

Monkeys aside, this number kept showing up in my list of missed calls over the past three weeks or so. It's weird because it's always really just in my missed calls, usually when I check my cell phone in the morning. Seems like this person regularly calls me during the night. And never just once, it's usually four or five times one after the other (as if I am suddenly there to take the call - but then again, does he actually want me to pick up?). Only once I had those calls sometime during work but it also must have been while I was away from my desk for a while because I only noticed them in my missed calls. And one other time it was when I was actually able to pick up but I didn't recognize the number and no one answered.

Today whoever it is suddenly called during work and when I saw the number I wasn't sure if it was the same because they didn't call me for a couple of days. I said "Hello?" and only heard static or something but then as if he was far away a guy saying something like "Sorry, wrong number" - it was really hard to hear at all. Then he hung up and I was confused. Then the phone kept ringing and ringing, just once or twice first and then I just kept hitting "Ignore" until it stopped because I was at work after all and didn't know how to react.

What the hell? Aside from the fact that you don't accidentally call a wrong number, apologize and then do it five times more within the next two minutes, you also don't call the wrong number regularly at night. And if you want to terrorize some random stranger you usually don't just let it ring once or twice or always at the same time when you know they never pick up anyway - and you don't send your number. Sadly I just have a cheap prepaid cell phone with no "Block number" function. I could of course call back but unfortunately I can't think of anything to say that wouldn't be stupid and useless. They might be dumb enough to say their name on the phone but it's still kind of not worth the effort.

I guess I'll just have to take it with humor if they happen to call at a time again when I can actually pick up - and do random things like ordering a pizza or asking them what their favorite horror movie is..

I'll take the risk of sounding like a know-it-all here but like I thought and said elsewhere yesterday instead of jumping on the drama train before knowing the background of this incident they did make a mistake, they did notice this (what a surprise!) and they are taking the time to review the suspended journals to identify those that got caught up in this accidentally.

EDIT: Putting related links here instead of letting them clutter my Memories or getting forgotten - I already lost the most important link that had the backstory and a list of unbiased facts. Sucks.
